PECAN PIE

CHOCOLATE BOURBON

A fun twist on the traditional (and much-loved) pecan pie, this recipe has chocolate, bourbon, and maple syrup for extra flavor and richness. You'll love it on it on your holiday dessert table.

INGREDIENTS

Make your pie crust. I used my Perfectly Flaky Pie Crust recipe.

PIE CRUST

Blind bake the pie crust according to directions.

BLIND BAKE

Add maple syrup and vanilla to eggs and sugar that have been beaten until frothy. It's important to mix it well, especially the sugar with the eggs, but not beat it too much.

MIX

Next come the flavorings, vanilla and bourbon.

Add the chocolate chunks (or chocolate chips) and part of the pecans.

The rest of the pecan halves go on top of the pie so it has a nice crunch and more decorative finish.

Bake for about 40 minutes, until puffed but still slightly jiggly in the center.

BAKE

Let cool completely on a wire rack before eating, refrigerating, or freezing.
