1 from 1 review

A unique twist to your regular iced tea, this refreshing Passionfruit Tea uses few ingredients, comes together quickly and can be made ahead.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 glasses

Ingredients

Units
  • 4 tea bags (black or green)
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup passionfruit pulp

Instructions

  1. Place the tea bags (or tea leaves in an infuser) in a pitcher, add the boiling water and the sugar, stir and allow to steep for 3-7 minutes. Take into account if you like a stronger or weaker tea flavor.
  2. Remove the tea bags and add the pulp from the passionfruit to the pitcher.
  3. Stir to combine and check sweetness and passionfruit flavor. Add more sugar and/or passion fruit juice or pulp if needed and stir well to dissolve.
  4. Serve in tall glasses over ice with fresh slices of lemon.

Notes

  • How to choose passionfruit:
    Wrinkled skin: this indicates ripeness.
Color: the skin should be slightly purple or yellow, depending on the variety.
Softness: avoid passion fruits that are too hard or have green skin, as they may not be fully ripe and won't provide the desired flavor.
  • Using tea leaves: use a mesh to steep the tea. I like mesh tea balls or tea infusers. The time is similar to using tea bags.
