My formula for frozen lemonade concentrate is easy and fresh, with no additives or preservatives. It has only 3 ingredients, and you can choose how sweet or sour you want it.

Beat the heat with frozen lemonade cubes
This is a genius way of having fresh homemade lemonade ready at all times!
There's not much to it. You make a simple syrup, add lemon juice and freeze it. Preparing the mixture takes 10 minutes, if that. Then, it has to freeze.
The difference is that it's concentrated, so each batch provides many servings. Work once and drink it for days. And you get natural flavors as opposed to preservatives and other artificial flavors found in commercial mixtures.
Though I love to stir a pitcher of classic lemonade on a hot day, this frozen concentrate is a saver. You do the squeezing and syrup once and enjoy it for days.

Lemonade concentrate formula
I use the following formula that can be adjusted to any container you choose:
- 1 measure of fresh lemon juice
- 1 measure of sugar
- 1 measure of water
So use a cup, a glass, a bowl, or whatever you want to use as the measuring unit. Just make sure you have space in the freezer.
Steps to make lemonade from concentrate

Lemon mix
You make a concentrated simple syrup and stir lemon juice.

Fill ice cubes
I pour it into several ice cube trays so it's easy to make individual glasses of lemonade, but you can use any freezer-safe container. Freeze until solid.

Make lemonade
Add the lemonade cubes to each glass. You can adjust the strength of the lemon flavor by using more or less frozen cubes.

Stir
Pour cold water and stir to dissolve the frozen lemonade cubes.

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup tap or filtered water
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- For the syrup, put the sugar in a small saucepan and add the water.
- Place over medium heat, stirring a few times, and let it come to a boil. Remove immediately and let cool.
- Stir in the fresh juice. Strain it over a fine mesh colander if you want a completely smooth mixture or leave some lemon pulp in if that's your preference.
- Stir to mix and pour it into ice cube trays and freeze. If you want to keep it refrigerated instead of frozen, use mason jars or other glass airtight container.
- When you want to use it, put 3 frozen cubes in a tall glass, add cold water and stir until they completely dissolve. Taste it and add more frozen lemonade or water to adjust it to your liking.
