Red jello shots with Halloween colors that can easily be transformed into jello cups without alcohol so that you can cater to kids and adults. Different themed candies can be used as decoration, and they can be prepared in advance so you have time to enjoy Halloween night!
Red jello cups with Halloween candy decorations
Jello shots bring a unique and eye-catching element to your Halloween party. They can be easily transformed into jello cups for the kids by omitting the vodka and using only water. So everyone is happy!
These red jello cups are sweet with a nice zing from the vodka.
They last a few weeks in the fridge, so prepare the plastic cups, stack them, and add the candy eyes and spiders (or whatever decoration you want) at the last moment.
We love simple Halloween recipes that can be made in advance, so there's time to enjoy trick-or-treating. And often use store-bought pantry items to make it easier, like the bloody Halloween cupcakes or the candy corn jello cups.
Ingredient list
- Red jello: you can use strawberry or cherry.
- Vodka: omit if making jello cups for kids.
- Candy eyes and spiders: or other Halloween decorations of your choice.
Quantities are listed on the recipe card towards the end of this post. The Ingredients page has more details and lists the brands we use.
How to make jello shot cups
Gelatin
The gelatin powder must be mixed with hot water and vodka (or more water if not using alcohol). Use a hand whisk for easier mixing.
Fill cups
Use a pitcher to pour the jello into plastic shot cups. Refrigerate until completely set.
Vintage Kitchen Tip
Allow the jello layer to fully solidify before closing the cups or adding the candy eyeballs. Otherwise, it'll be a mess.
Kitchen Notes
- Organization: read the recipe first and ensure you have ingredients at the correct temperature, equipment, and enough workspace. This will make the process so much easier.
- Serving: add regular or bloody eyeball candies or other Halloween edible decoration.
- Storage: jello cups can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. Place them in an airtight container or cover each cup with a plastic lid or wrap. Don't store them with the candy eyeball on top, as it will dissolve due to condensation.
- Vodka: we use plain vodka, but there are flavored ones that you might want to experiment with like raspberry vodka and cream vodka.
